Frequently asked questions
What counts as an "active" member?
A member is active if they've done something in the last 90 days — for example, RSVPed to an event, signed up for a task, offered a lift, or uploaded a photo. Inactive members don't count towards your limit on the Free plan. Paid and Federation plans have unlimited active members.
Is Grewp really free for community grewps?
Yes — Free is free, forever. We believe local organising should be accessible to everyone, and most grewps never need more than 100 active members. We fund Grewp through paid plans for clubs, organisers, and larger organisations.
Can I try a paid plan before committing?
Federation gets a 14-day free trial. Paid is just €9/month — sign up and start straight away.
What happens if we go over the limit?
Nothing breaks. We'll show a friendly warning to admins, but we won't block people from joining. If a genuine community grewp grows beyond the Free plan limits, we'll reach out and help you find the right plan.
Can I switch plans later?
Absolutely. Upgrade or downgrade at any time. If you downgrade, you'll keep access to your current plan until the end of your billing period.
Do members need an account to RSVP or join a grewp?
Yes. Joining a grewp is free, but members need an account to RSVP, coordinate tasks and lifts, and take part in grewp activity.
Do attendees need an account to buy a ticket or show it on the door?
No. Ticket sales pages are open access — people can buy without creating an account. After purchase, we email a QR code ticket and an Apple Wallet pass. On the door, attendees can show their QR code from the email or from Apple Wallet.
How do payments work?
Payments are available on Paid and Federation plans. You can accept payments via Stripe for membership subscriptions, event tickets, contributions, and fundraising. • Free grewps can't take payments. • We charge 2.5% + €0.25 per ticket sold. • We charge 2% on subscriptions and contributions. • Free events are always free — no fees. • Prices are shown in euros, but supporters can pay in their local currency using Stripe's competitive exchange rates.
Is there an easy and affordable way to sell tickets for my band's next gig?
Yes. Grewp is built to make small events and gigs simple: open ticket pages, QR code tickets by email, Apple Wallet passes, fast scanning, and a live guest list — without forcing fans to install an app or create an account.
Do you support door lists, scanning, and Apple Wallet tickets?

Do you offer discounts for nonprofits?
Yes. Verified nonprofits get 50% off subscription fees. Transaction fees stay the same. Email us at hello@grewp.org with your charity registration number. Note, we reserve the right to charge any right-wing think tanks a special 10,000% fee.
Can we export our data?
Right now, we can provide a basic export of members (including names and email addresses) on request. We're developing more export options based on customer feedback — if you need a specific format (for example, reporting to a funder or migrating from another tool), tell us and we'll prioritise it.
How do you handle privacy and GDPR?
We're based in the EU and built Grewp to be GDPR compliant. • We don't run third-party advertising. • We don't sell personal data — ever. • We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to keep the service reliable. • We can delete data manually on request for compliance. Our business model is simple: paid subscription tiers — not tracking.
How does the funder partnership work?
Councils, foundations, and funders can partner with Grewp to support community grewps in their area. Grewps stay completely free — the funder covers the platform cost. In return, funders get visibility into community impact with grewp consent. It's a win-win: grewps get better tools, and funders see measurable outcomes.
